Daily Reading: Acts and Psalms

Scripture readings and a few reflections from the Acts of the Apostles and the Psalms.

From the Acts of the Apostles

A man crippled from birth was carried each day and placed at the temple gate called "the Beautiful Gate" to beg from those who entered. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms.

Peter said, "I have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk." Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong. He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God.

I keep returning to that line: "what I do have I give you." It reminds me that what we have to give is rarely silver or gold, and almost always something worth more.

Psalm 105: Give Thanks to the Lord

Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the nations his deeds. Sing to him, sing his praise, proclaim all his wondrous deeds. Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!

Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence constantly. — Psalm 105:4
